Every day I see patients wanting to straighten their teeth. And nowadays as adults (and even teens) no-one wants a hunk of junk in their mouth! BUT did you know that you can straighten your teeth without the hunk of junk? YES you heard right!! We can now straighten your smile invisibly!! Clear aligners maybe what you are looking for!! So! Naturally the next question is…. Should I get invisalign or should I get braces. The main questions to ask yourself are “do you want metal in your mouth?” or “do want something virtually invisible?”
The benefits of invisalign is that it’s essentially invisible, no one really notices that you have anything in and you can take it out when you’re eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth. Thus making it really easy to eat and to clean your teeth! Because of this you can still eat whatever you like! The negatives are … they may not be suitable for really complicated cases and if it’s not worn 22 hours a day then your teeth won’t move. So if you don’t think you’ll wear it then braces is the way to go.
Braces are metal or ceramic (white) brackets with wires that align and straighten your teeth. The benefits of getting braces is that it’s fixed. You have no choice but to have them on! The negatives are you can see them (or it could be a positive since it’s the trend in high school students) and it’s much harder to clean.
