Root Canal Treatment
When is root canal treatment necessary?
No one ever wants a root canal. But when it can’t be avoided, you want it done right.
At Mint Dental, we have extensive root canal experience and recommend it when you’re at risk of losing a tooth, or want to avoid a dental implant or bridge.
Each tooth has a fine channel known as a root canal. This canal houses the dental pulp, which is made up of nerves and blood vessels. If the dental pulp becomes diseased or begins to die, it can cause toothache or swelling. In the past, the only way to deal with this was to remove the problem tooth, but thanks to root canal treatment, these teeth can now be saved. If you have a tooth that’s been badly damaged by decay, disease or injury, you may need a root canal.
What are the signs and symptoms?
- Sensitivity to hot or cold
- Pain on biting and/ or
- Swelling
- Wakes you up at night
If you have any of those symptoms it may indicate the need for root canal treatment

- Upon completion of RCT you will be out of pain.
- Saving the tooth means not having to go through dental extraction.
How is a root canal performed?
Once we’ve identified the problem, we like to get started as soon as possible. Over a number of visits, we enter the top of the tooth and access the root canal. We then remove the infected pulp and disinfect the space. Once this is done, we use fine dental files to shape the canal, and wash it with a sterilising solution before sealing it with a final filling.
What are the costs involved?
Since all teeth come in all shapes and sizes the cost of RCT depends on how many root canals are found within the tooth.
The total cost of the treatment is based on how many root canals are needed to cleaned and filled. Moreover, since each case is unique, there might be additional procedures required, such as crowning to further strengthen the tooth.
However, in most cases the cost of RCT can start from $990- $1800
At Mint Dental, we also offer an option of INTEREST FREE payment plans, so that you can pay off the cost of your treatment over time with no additional worries.
